| De 2009 à 2011, le captage à Arcachon fut particulièrement mauvais. Des pontes tardives associées à de faibles quantités de larves “petites” indiquaient un problème probablement au niveau de la maturation ou de la ponte. Le programme FéLiBA consiste en un zoom, pour l’année 2013, sur la Fécondité des huîtres creuses en Lien avec la qualité de l’eau du Bassin d’Arcachon. Ce programme s’est traduit par différentes actions de terrain. Tout d’abord, la maturation des huîtres issues du captage d’Arcachon ou de Marennes-Oléron a été suivie à Arcachon (site du Tès) et comparée avec celle de la Rade de Brest (pointe du Château) au cours de l’année 2013. They affect various littoral sites and belong to diverse species (Ulva, Enteromorpha and especially Cladophora). In 1990, on the North Brittany shore, more than 80 000 m3 ulvas have been mechanically removed by affected communities. Ce déficit de captage a suscité la mise en place, en 1999, d'un programme pluriannuel destiné à mieux comprendre les raisons de la variabilité du recrutement de naissains d'huîtres creuses. | Après une quinzaine d'années pendant lesquelles le captage de l'huître creuse a été normal ou pléthorique dans le Bassin d'Arcachon, la saison 1998 a donné de très faibles résultats. Plusieurs hypothèses ont été émises pour expliquer ce déficit : conditions climatiques et hydrologiques exceptionnelles, manque de nourriture pour les larves, maladie, contamination du milieu ayant eu un impact sur les larves ou sur leur nourriture. Chacune de ces hypothèses a été étudiée, en reprenant les données de 1998 lorsqu'elles étaient disponibles, et en acquérant l'ensemble des données nécessaires à l'explication du phénomène au cours de la saison de reproduction 1999. |

| For fifteen years, northern Medoc hosts sites of Penaeus japonicus. The six farms, with a total area of 180 ha (95 ha water) are supplied with water by canals connected to the Gironde estuary. Their normal total production is 11 tons per year, for an annual national output of 25 tonnes. In 2001, the survival rate of postlarvae were particularly low (22% average) compared to previous years, causing a decrease in production on all farms. A total of 4 tons of penaeid were harvested by farmers, about one third of normal production. | The Stanway cylinder was tested in the bay of Arcachon from September 1989 to August 1991. Trials were mainly performed on the Japanese oyster Crassostrea gigas in a wind-exposed area. The seed, spat, 18 month old oysters development and fattening of 2 year old oysters were studied. Compared to plastic bags the Stanway cylinder has high positive effects on survival and growth of Crassostrea gigas seed. It also has positive effects on commercial sized Crassostrea gigas fattening. | Arcachon Bay is one of the most important spat-supplying area for the French oyster production. During the last 16 years, the local economic activity of spat production has been threatened recurrently by a high interannual variability of seed harvesting. This threatened spat production was attributed to reproductive problems highlighted by both a delay in oyster spawning and a decrease of small larvae abundances since 1995. | The world aquaculture production (fresh and marine waters) achieved 11.1 million tonnes in 1986 (FAO, 1989). The molluscs represented 21 % of the total production. Marine aquaculture with 5.45 million tonnes reached 49% of the total production. The marine cultivated mollusc production was 2.25 million tonnes due mainly to oysters (36%), mussels (34%), clams (16%), and scallops (6%). As the aquaculture production is clearly identified in the statistics only since 1984, the evolution of the production of oysters and mussels for the last 15 years has been analyzed with the FAO data for the total catch (fisheries and culture).
